Two 148th Written Histories

1) 148th Regimental History  (J.W. Muffly, 1904)

2) Regimental History of the 148th PA (Thomas P. Meyer, 1904)  Scanned 8April2013 by Dr. Robert Myers, who wrote:
  • It occurred to me that someone in your group might be interested in the regimental history of the 148th that was written by Thomas P. Meyer (Sergeant Co. A, who later was a principal at Lock Haven High School).
  • I have a copy of his Incidents and Anecdotes of the War Between the States…(long title!) published in 1904 that was passed down through my family, and if you think anyone would be interested, I’d be glad to scan it and send it to you as a pdf file.
  • Thomas Meyer was the nephew of my great great grandfather, Jonathan Meyer, so I guess he’s my first cousin 3 times removed (his grave is in Rebersburg).  William and Henry were cousins to Thomas.  My favorite story in the book is “Whiskey cured Meyer” on page 68.
