Vonnie Hettinger sent Duane Harer this picture. This photo was taken early in the 1900s at Wolfs Chapel in the Stover Cemetery near Aaronsburg. The tall man 3rd from the left is Henry "Patcher" Meyer from Rebersburg. He served in the 148th P.V.I. Company A and was wounded at the Battle of Chancellorsville and lost his left hand at the Battle of Po River where he was severely wounded. He was discharged on September 12th, 1864. The man standing in front of the flag is a Mr. Page.
The three tombstones in the picture are of Emanual Leitzel, Pvt. 148th P.V.I. Company D and he died at Cockeysville, Md. of fever on December 12th, 1864, Jacob Leitzel, Pvt. 148th P.V.I. Company D and he died in his home at Woodward, Pa. December of 1862, George W. Leitzel, Sgt. 148th P.V.I. Company A and he was severely wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg July 2nd, 1863 and was discharged on July 6th, 1865.

Survivors, 1893
Rare photograph of James A. Beaver on crutches (front row), from wounds received during the May 1863 Battle of Chancellorsville. Photo is marked on back, "Survivors of the 148th Penna. Volunteer Regiment, Pittsburgh, PA, Sept. 1893." Dr. Allen is second man to right from Beaver, with folded hands. Dr. Allen was on hand at Chancellorsville to assist in the amputation of Beaver's leg.
