Pennsylvania's Centre County Goes to War

Jeffrey D. Wert is a retired high school teacher and author of nine books on the Civil War.  In this article, he describes volunteers from Centre County, including members of the 148th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.  The 148th fought valiantly, suffering one of the highest casualty rates of any regiment in the war.
